A Place in HIs Heart + Giveaway

Anglican Mary Langton longs to marry for love. Puritan Barnabas Horton is still in love with his deceased wife and needs only a mother for his two young sons. And yet these two very different people with very different expectations will take a leap of faith, wed, and then embark on a life-changing journey across the ocean to the Colonies. Along the way, each must learn to live in harmony, to wait on God, and to recognize true love where they least expect to find it.
This heartfelt tale of love and devotion is based on debut author Rebecca DeMarino’s own ancestors, who came to Long Island in the mid-1600s to establish a life–and a legacy–in the New World.

Review by Blanche Mancuso

A delightful story penned by Rebecca DeMarino of life in England in the middle 1600’s.

Barnabas Horton, owner of a bakery, is a broken hearted man who has lost his wife and is trying to raise his two sons. Mary Langton, who is being pressured to marry without love, comes to the bakery with her sister Lizzie. Barnabas, is intrigued with Mary and asks her father if he might court her. Barnabas and Mary end up getting married and then decide to leave for the "New Colonies" (Long Island NY)

What happens in the New Colonies? Great adventure, loss, heartache and victory in the Lord at every turn of the page. I connected on an emtional level with the characters. Wonderful book which I believe is worth reading. Plus, this book is the first in the Southold Chronicles series, so now is the perfect time to jump in and read this book. Also, this book does not read like a debut novel from new author, Rebecca DeMarino. It reads like the author is a seasoned professional writer. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. A Place in His Heart has won a place in my heart.
